Mr. Gaston Gin

The Tessendier distillery is a family business whose history began with his great-grandfather in 1880. A mathematics teacher at the time, Gaston Tessendier decided to plant vines on his estate located in the "Borderies" appellation. This appellation is located in the north of Charente, above the town of Cognac, and represents 5% of the region's vineyards. At first, it was a hobby, then a passion and a weekend winemaking job. The knowledge, experience, and expertise passed down from generation to generation led to the family business as we know it today. Currently, the two brothers, Jérôme and Lilian Tessendier, are carrying on the family business. Jérôme is the cellar master and Lilian is the master blender, respectively. The Tessendier distillery is composed of 6 stills, a Charente method in double distillation, 14 aging cellars with 20,000 oak barrels including 2000 French oak barrels, 12 million liters stored, 2 bottling lines. The distillery masters the complete chain of spirits production from the vineyard, to distillation, aging, to bottling. The Tessendier family has been distilling cognac for 130 years, but not only. Drawing on this know-how, it now produces Gin (Mr Gaston Gin), Whisky (Arlett their latest creation), a Brandy (Mr Gaston Brandy). The Tessendier distillery also uses its know-how to select, blend, and refine other spirits such as rum (Saison Rum), Scotch whisky (Seven Yards Scotch whisky). In 2019, a new activity was born, "Distribution Tessendier". It is with several French producers, having a common philosophy of promoting their distillery and their quality products, that they unite to promote and distribute their production. This includes Gin, Vodka, Whisky and other spirits or liqueurs. Here we have a distillery with known and recognized know-how, which draws on its achievements but which remains in perpetual evolution in order to delight us with spirits more refined than the others. Concerning the original Arlett Single Malt whisky, it was released in the fall of 2022, it is intended to reflect the Tessendier family because, as Jérome points out, "it is not a whisky that we produced, it is OUR whisky". The distillery sources 100% French malted barley. Arlett Single Malt Original is aged for 3 years in new American oak barrels (Quercus Alba) and Bourbon barrels. Quercus Alba essence has unique properties, particularly due to the significant presence of lactone. Lactone is an important organic compound in flavoring.
