Hwayo X.Premium Whisky - Single Grain South Korea

Hwayo Distillery is a South Korean distillery located in Yeoju Province, established in 2006 under the leadership of the KwanJugo Group. The company specializes in high-end ceramics and has been a benchmark in Korean tableware since 1963. The distillery was originally designed to produce premium soju, a traditional Korean alcohol made from distilled rice, deeply rooted in the country's culture.

Through ancestral know-how of quality and a desire for innovation, the distillery embarked the following year on the project of creating the first South Korean whisky made exclusively from rice. Hwayo X.Premium is a single grain developed by Mr. Saehee Moom, a master distiller influenced by the age-old techniques acquired in the manufacture of soju. The distillery offers a refined and innovative whisky by applying 4 key stages in production. The 4 stages are as follows: development of the priming mash and polishing of the rice to 10%, fermentation of the mash called "moromi" by adding water and yeasts, followed by the important stage of distillation in a pot still at low pressure which gives finer and more delicate aromas, and finally the juice is aged in American oak barrels. The Japonica rice variety, short, round, tender rice, and water drawn from a depth of 150 meters in a natural rock in the Yeoju province, are two natural resources important for the quality of Soju and whisky. "Hwa" means fire, and "Yo" to symbolize the noble object.

Hwayo thus embodies the entire philosophy of the Korean brand by using its natural resources to create a rare and noble product. Moreover, the shape of a crane can be discreetly distinguished on the bottles. The crane was worn as a symbol by Korean kings. It is a powerful symbol of longevity, luck, and wisdom. This illustrates the ambitions of this whisky: to dominate the Korean premium alcohol market, just as a crane majestically dominates the country's peaks.
