The American oak barrel, once containing a Cognac-based spirit, enhances the aroma and softens the woodiness of this rum, giving it a fullness on the palate. Notes of candied fruit, raisins, and cinnamon are evident.
Refining helps to soften the tannins and achieve a more rounded appearance. Refining is partly carried out in oak barrels at Château Du Breuil.
Travellers Distillers uses high-quality local molasses with natural fermentation, coupled with a double distillation method in a continuous triple column still for a smoother taste.
