Rebel Straight Bourbon is a bourbon from Kentucky, made from corn, wheat, and barley but no rye. Most of the corn (95%) comes from a farm a few miles from the distillery. Distillation is carried out using a 14-meter-high column still with 19 stages. At the end of the distillation, the juice is labeled bourbon. The legislation for the Straight Bourbon designation requires the juice to have spent at least two years in new, charred oak barrels. Rebel has chosen to age it for four years in oak barrels, with a type 3 toast, meaning intense. This bourbon will have delicious, sweet, round, intense, and warm notes. The flavors will include honey, caramel, vanilla, oak, and a blend of spices.
The USA is the country by tradition of bourbon production, of which Kentucky is the cradle. Kentucky is a state with abundant natural resources, not only in terms of cereals, but also for the quality of its water, which has the particularity of being rich in minerals. Before 1850, we speak of Whiskey, and it was differentiated from Rye (rye) and Whiskey (barley) by distillation with at least 51% corn. We speak of "Mash Bill" for the famous mixture of corn, rye, wheat and barley. The Bourbon appellation comes from Bourbon County in the state of Kentucky, place of production of this whiskey, whose origin of the appellation is a tribute to the King of France Louis XVI from the Capetian house of Bourbon. For the bourbon appellation, barrel aging is not mandatory. On the other hand, aging for 2 years in new charred oak barrels is mandatory for the "Straight Bourbon" appellation, in addition to the minimum 51% corn content during distillation. The history of Rebel bourbon begins in 1849, the year of its first distillation by Stilzel Weller. The brand was created in 1936, and for the last 40 years its production has been entrusted to large distilleries. It was only in 2015 that the brand's owners decided to distill their own bourbon. This is how the Lux Row Distillery was born. John Rempe is the master distiller, and it is largely thanks to his skills acquired over 20 years in the spirits industry that the distillery has enjoyed great success. Another particularity of Rebel is that it does not incorporate rye, but only corn, wheat, and barley. Rebel is a high-quality bourbon, smooth, indulgent, and warm at the same time.
