EDDU 15 years – Time, land, transmission

In Plomelin, Brittany, the Distillerie des Menhirs is rooted in a unique terroir, shaped by sea winds, Celtic legends... and a family tradition of distillation that spans generations. It is here that the story of EDDU 15 ans takes root, as a tribute to the long history, to the passed down know-how, and to the living substance that is buckwheat.

In 1999, Guy Le Lay , visionary and founder of the distillery, took a bold gamble: creating a whisky from an unexpected, deeply Breton ingredient – PGI buckwheat, Harpe variety , grown locally. Thus was born EDDU , the world's first whisky made exclusively from this noble cereal.

Twenty-five years later, his three sons, Erwan, Kevin and Loig , have taken up the torch. They perpetuate this legacy with rigor and passion, making EDDU 15 ans one of the finest expressions of their expertise.

Aged for 15 years in French oak barrels that previously contained Cognac , this rare, limited-edition whisky draws its depth from the subtle combination of wood and time.

Its nose , intense and complex, reveals exotic aromas of sweet curry , candied fruits , with a perfectly integrated woody touch. On the palate, roundness and delicacy are imposed , before stretching into a long, creamy, elegantly spiced finish .

With its suppleness, EDDU 15 ans evokes the tranquil meanders of the Odet , the coastal river which winds not far from the distillery – what we call here a vire-court , a gentle detour towards the ocean.
