Yamazakura Peated Whisky - Japanese blended peated
- 0.70 L
- 78.50 € / L
Yamazakura means "mountain cherry" and peated means "peaty." It is a blend of malted-peated barley whisky and grain whisky. Double distillation in a copper pot still and aging in bourbon barrels gives us a smooth and indulgent whisky with malt, citrus, caramel, vanilla, and yellow fruit notes. It has a beautiful finesse on the smokiness, perfect for introducing oneself to peated whisky, which will also delight peat lovers. It is bottled without being chill-filtered and in its original color.
The Asaka Distillery was founded in 2015 by the Sasanokawa Shuzo company, itself founded in 1765. It is a brewery specializing in traditional Japanese drinks, such as sake and shochu, making it the oldest brewery in the Tohoku region located in northeast Japan. Sasanokawa Shuzio developed its first whiskies in 1946. The Asaka Distillery has two Japanese-made pot stills and benefits from an environment with exceptional local resources. The water comes notably from Lake Inawashiro, one of the largest lakes in the country located south of Mount Bandai. A family business, the distillery operates on 390m2 and the aging of the juices on a surface of 790m2 for at least 3 years.
